Overview

Fouzia is an epidemiologist with research interests in maternal, fetal, and perinatal health. She received her PhD from University of Pittsburgh, School of Public Health where her work focused on preconception cardiometabolic health and adverse pregnancy outcomes. As a member of the Smith Lab, her research work focuses on COVID-19 in pregnancy, use of Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) for maternal nutrition and birth outcomes, and the impact of maternal iron deficiency anemia on maternal and neonatal outcomes.
